PURPOSE: To prevent breakage of a handle bar due to abnormal load by means of a stretchable handle protecting device provided between the handle grip and the hitch box.

CONSTITUTION: A tubular adjusting device 7 is fitted loosely into the tubular body so that both the parts are adjustable at any position with a pin 10 and holes 8 and 9. A guide member 14 provided on a handle bar 2 is supported with a concave section 13 provided at the upper end of the adjusting device 7 and the lower end of the body 6 is mounted on a hitch box 4. With such an arrangement, even if any advertent load is applied on the root part of the handle bar 2 due to the weight of a working machine, it can be received by the protecting device thereby preventing breakage of the handle bar.
