Abstract:

To provide reliable screening, diagnostic and prognostic means for detecting nucleic acids, antigens and antibodies relating to HCV in order to treat patients and prevent the transmission of HCV through blood, blood preparations or by personal contact.

The present invention provides a composition that can include non-natural nucleic acids bearing a non-HCV-1 nucleotide sequence comprising eight or more nucleotides corresponding to a nucleotide sequence in a hepatitis C virus genome.
