PURPOSE: To simplify the circuit of a head lamp device as well as permit the selection of operational patterns more than the number of contacts by providing a self holding circuit to hold the state of contacts before being switched to a switch to expose and house the head lamp.

CONSTITUTION: A drive switch 3 to expose and house a head lamp is interlocked with a lighting switch 6. As the contact is switched from (b) to (d), the state of housing and non-lighting of the lamp is switched to the lighting of a small lamp 7 at the contact (c), the exposure and lighting of the head lamp 8 at the contact (d), and the lighting of the small lamp 7 at the contact (d). The TR Q1 and Q4 of the holding circuit 4 are all turned off at the contacts (b) and (c), the circuit (a) for housing is turned on, and at the contact (d), TR is all turned on, the circuit (a) for housing is turned off, and the circuit (b) for exposure is turned on. When the contact is restored from (d) to (c), the head lamp 8 is turned off, the small lamp 7 is only lighted, and TR Q1 and TR Q2 of the holding circuit 4 are interrupted with the power source side. However, electric current is supplied to TR Q3 and TR Q4 from the terminal (a), exposure state is held. When the contact is restored to (b), initial state is returned and three- contact 4 pattern results.
