To provide a head mechanism for a thermal printer capable of obtaining an excellent recording result in the thermal printer suitable for recording without forming a blank space at a tip part in the conveyed direction of paper by solving a problem of pressure contact marks of a platen roller while ensuring miniaturization of an apparatus.
The head mechanism for the thermal printer comprises the platen roller 4 rotatably supported to a casing 3, and a thermal head 5 disposed at a tip part of a head support member 6 with the tip part turnable around a rear end supported to the casing 3, and arranged to face the platen roller 4. In a recording time, paper used for recording is held between the platen roller 4 and the thermal head 5, and a current is selectively carried to heating elements disposed at the thermal head 5 to obtain desired recording. The thermal head 5 and the platen roller 4 are disposed forming a clearance smaller in dimension than the thickness of the paper used for recording in a non-recording time.
