To obtain a head mounting mechanism which enhances the handling property of a single componet by increasing the strength of a fixation member and which enhances also the mounting accuracy of a magnetic head.

In this head mounting mechanism, a pedestal 9 wherein two leg parts 9b, 9b which are formed by a drawing operation and a top part 9a which is installed so as to be continued to them are provided is installed in a part of a fixation board 8 as a fixation member which attaches a head mounting board 2 by regulating its height position on the fixation board 8. The head mounting board 2 is screwed and fixed to a screw hole 9c in the top part 9a. An azimuth screw 5 is inserted into a cutout part 2b which is formed on the other end side of the head mounting plate 2, and it is screwed to a screw hole 8a in the fixation board 8 by interposing a compression coiled spring 6. The strength of the fixation member can be increased by the pedestal 9 of a straddle structure.
