Abstract:

To protect a driver of an oncoming vehicle or another vehicle from dazzling headlight by controlling to change the irradiating state compared with an undetected state, when detecting it as a specific traveling environment, lowering the irradiating direction of the headlamp, or lowering the light quantity.

When detecting a road having an opposed lane by a navigation, VICS, etc., or confirming the state of approaching of an oncoming vehicle, a headlamp is so controlled not as to dazzle a driver in the oncoming vehicle with the optical axis and the light quantity set to the reference states respectively. Otherwise, the optical axis is set to upward and light quantity is intensified so that the visibility of the driver in the own vehicle is set to a sufficiently improved state. When traveling on an automobile road or a road having no sidewalk, the optical axis is set to upward and the light quantity is intensified. When traveling on a road except for the automobile road and detecting the sidewalk, the optical axis and the light quantity are set to the reference states. In traveling a curve, the light axis is so changed as to face to the turning inside.
