Title:
HEAT EXCHANGER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3159805
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate a refrigerant inlet or outlet pipe for connecting a coupler member to a header exposed outside having a complex pipe configuration and further to enable a core area to be expanded by a method wherein the coupler member for use in connecting the external pipe is directly made to communicate with and connected to the header.
CONSTITUTION: A coupler member 5 is of a coupler member of a flange connection type of block form formed into a predetermined shape and has a flat flange coupling surface faced outward. This flange coupling surface is provided with connection ports 8 and 9. An inlet insertion pipe 13 and an outlet insertion pipe 13 are integrally formed at a side surface opposite to the flange coupling surface. They are made to communicate with inner passages 15 and 16 through each of their corresponding ports 8 and 9. An outer peripheral wall of a left header 2 is provided with a pair of connecting insertion holes 17 and 18 at upper and lower positions holding a partition 4 therein. Each of insertion pipes 13 and 14 is inserted into and fitted to the insertion holes 17 and 18, integrally connected, and then each of the ports 8 and 9 is made to communicate with each of the upper and lower chambers 6 and 7 holding the partition of the header 2.
