The heat treatment method for a steel pipe performs heat treatment to the steel pipe by heating and cooling the steel pipe. The heat treatment method for the steel pipe includes: a heating step of heating the steel pipe to the Ac3 temperature or more; a soaking step of maintaining the heated steel pipe at the Ac3 temperature or more so as to soak the steel pipe; an air-cooling step of air-cooling the soaked steel pipe to an Ac1-3 temperature range; and a quenching step of quenching the air-cooled steel pipe by water-cooling.
