Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title adsorbent of hydrophilic property having s-triazine rings in its resin matrix by reacting cyanuric chloride with a restricted amt. of thiocarbohydrazide and polyethyleneimine in a polar aprotic solvent; mixing a specific polyisocyanate into the reaction product; and hardening the mixt.

CONSTITUTION: 1 mol of cyanuric chloride is reacted with 1W3, pref. 1.5W3 mols of thiocarbohydrazide and polyethyleneimine at below 5, pref, 0°C with stirring in a polar aprotic solvent with a permittivity above 30, esp. N,N-dimethylformamide. A polyisocyanate of the formula is then mixed into the reaction product and hardened to obtain the title adsorbent having mechanical strength enough for practical use and a Hg adsorption capacity above 0.5 meq/g.
