This high accuracy retracting chuck is a chuck of a retracting type provided with a body comprising a rear body and the moving body, the plunger forced to move axially inside the body and a jaw forced to move in the radial direction of the body by the action of a wedge by engaging with the plunger, of which the jaw is forced to move axially together with the axial movement of the moving body, and is characterized to retract the plunger and the body axially by integration, by that the above plunger is forced to move axially on the inner periphery of the moving body and also an outer peripheral face of the wedge portion in the plunger is forced to abut against an inner peripheral face in the moving body by elastic deformation when the work is gripped.
