Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a crack forming a section of two separated plates during cold rolling by reducing the P content of a martensitic stainless steel to a specified amount or less.

CONSTITUTION: The P content of a martensitic stainless steel contg. 0.16W0.40% C, <1.00% Si, <1.00% Mn and 12.0W14.0% Cr is regulated to ≤0.015%. When a continuously cast billet of the steel is worked into a plate by cold rolling, the occurrence of a cold rolling crack forming a section of two separated plates at the edge of the rolled material can be prevented.
