Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve meltability, heat resistance, transition temp. characteristics, chemical durability and expansion characteristics by using SiO2, Al2O3, B2O3, CaO and BaO a pricipal components.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of, by weight, 30-43% SiO2 and 2-12% Al2O3, 0-10% B2O3, 10-40% CaO and 10-50% BaO, 0-10% ZnO, 0-10% SrO and 0-10% MgO, 0-5% TiO2, 0-5% ZrO2 and 0-1% As2O3 and/or Sb2O3 and satisfying SiO+Al2O3=35-55%, CaO+BaO=40-60%, CaO≥5%, ZnO+SrO+MgO=0-10% is melted at 1,350-1,450°C and vitrified to obtain the objective high expansion heat resistant glass of SiO2-Al2O3-RO (R is divalent metals) type having ≥650°C transition temp. and 80×10-7-110×10-7/°C coefft. of thermal expansion.
