Title:
HIGH LUMINANCE DISCHARGE LIGHT SOURCE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2719087
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high luminance discharge light source having high effective luminance.
CONSTITUTION: A gas filler which can be excited to be turned into a discharge state is enclosed into an arc chamber 20 of an arc tube 12. At least, two electrodes 16, 18 extend inside of the arc chamber 20, and are partitioned with an arc gap 22 of 2-3.5mm. A quantity of mercury inside the arc chamber and various dimensions of the arc tube are selected so as to balance three limitation conditions including an operating voltage, stability of convection and completeness of the structure of a discharge lamp which determine efficiency of a lamp. The dimension of the arc gap, the diameter and wall thickness of the arc chamber and the density of mercury of the lamp are balanced, thereby achieving an optical output of the order of 50,000 lumen per 1cm2.
