PURPOSE: To obtain the objective composition with high absorptivity even to high-mineral water, useful for optical fiber cables etc., by incorporating specific water-absorptive resin powder with a binder, an inorganic filler, a surfactant and an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100pts.wt. of water-absorptive resin powder consisting of (i) an isobutylene- maleic anhydride copolymer crosslinked product, (ii) a copolymer crosslinked product prepared by polymerization, in the presence of a crosslinking agent, of a monomer mixture comprising a sulfoalkyl (meth)acrylate monomer, (meth) acrylic acid monomer and, if necessary, another polymerizable monomer, or (iii) a blend of the components (i) and (ii), with (B) 10-100pts.wt. of a binder composed of a synthetic resin or synthetic rubber, (C) 5-200pts.wt. of an in organic filler, (D) 0.1-5pts.wt. of an anionic or nonionic surfactant, and (E) an organic solvent.
