To generally grasp a fault due to higher harmonics by monitoring the harmonics generated or incoming at each point of a power system.
This device is made of slave stations 10 consisting of a higher harmonics analysis part 11, an radio clock part 12 and a modem 13 respectively installed at each point, and a master station 20 including a central processing part 25 connected to the slave stations 10 with a modem 21 via a transmission line 29. In addition, the device performs a measurement process for periodically measuring higher harmonics at the prescribed time intervals at the preset time, according to an instruction from the master station 20, and always monitors a power system. Also, when the occurrence of abnormal higher harmonics is detected, the salve stations 10 report the master station 20 to that effect, and the master station 20 issues an instruction for the prescribed measurements (trigger measurements) to all salve stations 10. Then, the master station 20 analyzes data obtained via the isotimic measurements and trigger measurements for generally processing the data. As a result, the outgoing and incoming status of harmonics over the wide range of area can be properly detected.
