PURPOSE: To obtain a signal control system in which reliability can be improved at the time of preventing the occurrence of traffic jam by predicting traffic volume by imparting a function which mutually communicates information with the other sub-system to the sub-system which predicts the traffic volume and controls a traffic signal.
CONSTITUTION: In a sub-system 1 which manages one or several inter-sections, information from a traffic volume measuring device 10 is inputted to an information traffic volume predicting device 11, and the predicted value of the feature traffic volume and occupancy ratio is obtained and outputted to a signal parameter computer 12. The signal parameter computer 12 transmits a preliminarily set signal adjustment pattern to a traffic signal controller 13 by using the transmitted information related with the traffic volume, and the traffic signal controller 13 controls a traffic signal 14. Also, an information storage device 18 records the information measured by the traffic volume measuring device 10, or preserves the information necessary for the traffic volume predicting device 11 and the signal parameter computer 12. The above mentioned devices are connected with a communication equipment 15, and the transmission and reception of the necessary data is performed by communication with the outside system.
