PURPOSE: To automatically hold a yoke by temporally mounting a deflection yoke in a prescribed relation to a cathode-ray tube while advancing a detection device supported in a prescribed relation to a yoke holding device along the tube axis together with the holding device for detecting a position.
CONSTITUTION: A deflection yoke 6 is fitted into the neck of a cathode-ray tube while temporally fixing the marks symmetrically put on the yoke periphery in parallel with the horizontal axis of the cathode-ray tube. The cathode-ray tube is put on a device while holding the tube axis in parallel for being driven 13 in the tube axis direction and a holding device 10 and a detection device 11 are advanced while stopping an advance at a signal of a sensor 66 when a lever 67 of the device 11 contacts with the yoke 6, continuously an arm 54 of the device 10 rotates for inserting the outer periphery of the yoke into the groove of the tip of a chuck 59 in order to hold it. Next, temporary fixing is released while the prescribed voltage is given to the yoke and the cathode-ray tube for making them to retreat 13 and to stop at a signal from a sensor on the screen. Subsequently, the rotary driving parts 14W16 are controlled for performing oscillation in the horizontal and vertical directions and correction around the tube axis until receiving a prescribed signal from said sensor according to a program.
