To provide a holding device which can clamp a target article and release its clamping or open both clamping parts that is the essential movement of clamping easily and surely without needing large force.

When closing operation parts C2 being opened are pushed down, the front end side of a movable clamping body C turns upward, and space between the movable clamping part C1 and a fixed clamping part B1 is moved into a closed state, and so a target article can be clamped. In the closed state, an urging member D including compression coil springs shrinks, both outward projecting parts F1 of spring member F fits to a closed engaging part B4 to maintain the closed state. When both lower end portions of release member E are pushed inside at the same time, both release projecting parts E1 release both outward projecting parts F1 of the spring member F from the respective closed engaging parts B4, and by urging force of the urging member D, the front end side of the movable clamping body C turn down relative to a fixed clamping body B, and so the open state is performed.
