Abstract:
PURPOSE: To surely prevent water, oil, etc., from infiltrating 'into a hollow stabilizer.
CONSTITUTION: A hollow stabilizer 10 includes a hollow stabilizer body 21 having a cavity 20 therein and a round cross section, eye sections 15 provided on both ends of the body 21 and tapered sections 30 ranging on the flat faces 25 of the eye sections 15. This stabilizer 10 comprising a steel pipe 40 is manufactured through a process in which the ends of the pipe 40 are heated, an upset machining process in which a solid part 22 of a specified length is formed by axially pressing the ends of the pipe 40 and a forging process in which the eye sections 15 and tapered sections 30 are formed by radially pressing the solid part 22 after upset machining. In addition, the ends are solidified so that the end 35 of the cavity 20 is positioned nearer the side of the stabilizer body 21 than the boarder 36 of an eye section 15 and a tapered section 30.
