PURPOSE: To easily discharge the SS released and to maintain a high flux by forming the turnback of a hollow yarn from the end of a water collecting part through a hollow yarn supporting member and making the size of the supporting member larger than that of the end face of the water collecting part.
CONSTITUTION: The umbrella hollow-fiber membrane module 1 consists of plural hollow yarns 2, a water collecting part 3 having the hollow yarn end and hollow yarn fiber supporting members 4a and 4b. The hollow yarn turnback 6 is formed from the end 5 of the water collecting part through the members 4a and 4b. Plural hollow yarn aggregates 7 and 8 extending from the turnback 6 to the end 5 are formed through the members 4a and 4b, and spaces 9 and 10 are furnished. The size of the members 4a and 4b is made ≥1.2 times larger than that of the end face of the water collecting part 3. Consequently, the contaminant on the hollow yarn is continuously cleaned off, the frequency of chemical cleaning is remarkably reduced, and the permeated flux is kept high and stable for a long time.
