PURPOSE: To shorten the distance between a light emission display means and a reflection type hologram without sacrificing the reduction of aberrations of a display virtual image by arranging the light emission display means more on a reflection type hologram side than the focal position of a convergence optical system.
CONSTITUTION: A lens 4 with thickness d1 is arranged between the light emission display means 1 and reflection type hologram 2 and the lens 4 is arranged at a distance d2 from the light emission display means 1. The reflection type hologram 2 is arranged at a distance d0 from the lens 4 and the display virtual image 3 is formed at a distance S2 from the hologram 2. The light emission display means 1 is arranged more on the lens side than the focus of the lens 4 and the light from the light emission display means 1 is magnified by the lens 4. The angle between the light emitting element surface of the light emission display means 1 and the hologram 2 is α1 and an observer 10 observes the display virtual image 3 on the prolongation of the virtual display image 3 and hologram 2.
