Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a honeycomb-shaped structural body for catalyst having mechanical strength and strength to instantaneous thermal impact by arraying and disposing plural cylindrical catalyst base materials between coild sheetlike catalyst base materials.

CONSTITUTION: An org. material is impregnated in a cylindrical glass sleeve and is cut to a specified size, thereby forming a catalyst base material 2. A sheetlike catalyst base material 1 of a glass fiber fabric or the like is adhered to the central shaft 3 of the material 2, then the material 1 is coiled spirally. At the same time, the material 2 is inserted continuously therein and is finished to a specified size, on the outside of which the material 1 is wound 2W3 turns and is fixed. The assembly is then heated to remove the impregnated org. material whereby the honeycomb-shaped structural body for catalyst is formed. A carrier layer is formed on the surface of such structural body and a catalytic metal is deposited thereon. The honeycomb-shaped catalytic body is thus obtd.
