Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure made of a ceramic which imparts new functions to honeycomb structures to thereby find new uses beyond the application range of the conventional honeycomb structures and to enable handling of new flows of fluids.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure comprises a ceramic and has at least a first end surface, a second end surface, a first side wall, and a second side wall, and has a plurality of flow paths extending from the first end surface to the second end surface and partitioned by inner walls. The honeycomb structure also has connecting holes formed by first apertures, which are formed in the first side wall or the second side wall, and second apertures, which are formed in a plurality of the inner walls opposite the first apertures and which connect a plurality of flow paths. The connecting holes are not formed in the outermost flow path, of the plurality of flow paths facing the first side wall or the second side wall.
