PURPOSE: To prevent the sticking of a grinding wheel securely without extending the lowering cycle time even though a small diameter hole is made as the honing object.

CONSTITUTION: In a honing process device in which a grinding wheel 3 on top of a hone head 2 is expanded by the movement of an expansion rod 5 provided in a main shaft 1, in the axial direction, the main shaft 1 is held rotatable to a main body 9 driven vertically by a cylinder 8, and an operation rod 7 to move the expansion rod 5 in the main shaft 1 is provided. And an arm member 20 moving in the axial direction integrally with the operation rod 7, and an elevating member 25 held movable vertically to the main body 9 are connected to operate by a motor 27, and the elevating member 25 is made free at first, the operation rod 7 is lowered freely in a high speed, and the movement of the grinding wheel 3 is reduced by a balance cylinder 32 immediately before the grinding wheel 3 is contacted to a work W, and then, the arm member 20 is lowered by the motor 27 while the elevating member 25 is fixed by a cylinder 30 for locking, so as to contact the grinding wheel to the work at a low speed.
