PURPOSE: To provide a horizontal mold clamping device for feeding a plasticized material into cavities of a movable mold and a fixed mold disposed vertically on the ground and molding a molded product.

CONSTITUTION: A horizontal mold clamping device 2 for molding a plasticized material set in cavities of a mold is provided with a fixed die plate 10 for retaining a fixed mold, a movable die plate 20 for retaining a movable mold, a forward and backward moving means 30 for die plates, an engaging means 40 for engaging the movable die plate with a tie bar and a mold clamping means 50 for mold clamping after engaging. The device is also provided with a guide section fixed on a frame and guiding slidably a bearing of the movable die plate, a bearing section for sliding the movable die plate along the guide section, a tie bar supported by the bearing and sliding, and an engaging means for engaging the movable die plate with the tie bar.
