Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrict increasing in temperature at a high pressure pump.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method for controlling a fuel pump 4 for a direct injection system including a common rail. This method includes the steps of: calculating a target fuel flow rate Mthat should be supplied to a common rail occasionally by a high pressure pump 4 to keep a desired pressure value within the common rail; comparing the target fuel flow rate Mwith the maximum flow rate Mthat can be fed out by the high pressure pump 4; and controlling the high pressure pump 4 for alternating a working cycle of the high pressure pump by the maximum flow rate Mwith an idle working cycle of the high pressure pump 4 on the basis of the comparison between the target fuel flow rate Mand the maximum flow rate Mthat can be fed out by the high pressure pump 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
