To provide a method of cleaning contaminants such as VOC and oil contained in contaminated soil without eluting a heavy metal even in a small-scaled plant which can be installed in an excavation site or its vicinity.
In order to clean the contaminated soil using the method of cleaning the contaminated soil according to an embodiment of the present invention, first magnesium hydroxide is added to the contaminated soil with contaminants mixed in it, so as to form primary treatment soil (Step 101). Next, the primary treatment soil is thrown in a rotary kiln and heated in an airtight state to form secondary treatment soil (Step 102). The heating process is carried out within a temperature range that enables volatilization of the contaminants and the oxidation reaction. Further, the secondary treatment soil is discharged from the rotary kiln after the heat treatment, and is then recycled as general soil (Step 103).
