Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recycling Nd-based rare earth metal magnet scrap, having the peculiarity in which the scrap is charged into fused salt electrolytic bath using rare earth metal oxides as a raw material, the scrap is fused and separated into the rare earth metal oxides and the magnet alloy part, the rare earth metal oxides dissolved in the electrolytic bath are reduced into the rear earth metals with the electrolysis and further, the magnetic alloy part is alloyed with the rare earth metals generated by electrolytic reduction and reproduced as the rare earth metals-transition metals-boron alloy, in the recycling method of the Nd base rare earth metal magnet scrap as the raw material. SOLUTION: The whole elements contained in the Nd-based rare earth metal magnet scrap can simultaneously be reproduced and the oxygen concentration in the obtained alloy is reduced. Further, the process is simpler in comparison with the conventional treating method, and since the process is economical and continuous, its industrial utility value is very high.
