To provide a hybrid drive device capable of increasing the rotational speed of a prime mover as much as possible in starting a vehicle.
A hybrid drive device is provided with the prime mover and a first electric motor installed as the power source of the vehicle, a power distribution device having a plurality of rotational elements capable of being differentially turned, and a transmission having a plurality of rotational elements capable of being differentially turned. The prime mover and the first electric motor are connected to the power distribution device. The power distribution device and the transmission are connected. A brake to control the rotation/stop of reaction force element of the transmission is installed. In starting the vehicle, a brake control means for controlling the support torque which is given to the reaction force element from the brake is provided so that the reaction force element of the transmission receives the reaction force while the reaction force element rotates (steps S1 and S2).
