To save fuel in a hybrid type rail carrier being a series type in which a generator is rotated by an engine using a motor as a drive source, by stopping the engine as much as possible.
The rail carrier travels by driving drive wheels on a rail built by providing a rising gradient and a falling gradient on the ground. In the carrier, a set of an engine, generator, motor and battery is installed, individually. The carrier travels by rotating the drive wheels by driving the motor by electric power of the battery, accumulating electromotive force in the battery by rotating the generator only when the accumulation amount of the battery is below a lower limit, and accumulating regenerative current generated at the motor when traveling the falling gradient in the batteries.
