To provide a hydraulic shock absorber for a vehicle associated with a spring load adjusting device having a high ejecting performance for mud etc.
The hydraulic shock absorber 10 for the vehicle is structured so that a supporting member 31 furnished with a ring-shaped supporting part 32 is fixed to the base end of a piston rod 12 and that a ring-shaped stopper 40 furnished with a projection 41A protruding upward is installed in the supporting part 32 in the condition not rotatable, and is equipped with a ring-shaped cam part 51 furnished with cam faces 51A-51C having different height to be engaged selectively with the projection 41A of the stopper 40. An adjuster 50 equipped with a cylindrical skirt part 52 covering the peripheries of the cam faces 51A-51C and surrounding the outside of the stopper 40 or the supporting part 32 is installed rotatably on the periphery of the piston rod 12, and a suspension spring 13 is supported by the adjuster 50, and the movement or swing in the radial direction of the adjuster 50 is restricted by the stopper 40 or the supporting part 32.
