Abstract:
To provide an apparatus and method that quickly make the ratio of hydrogen to oxygen smaller than a predetermined threshold.SOLUTION: A first inlet 31 of a gas-liquid separator 30 is connected to an outlet 21b of a photocatalyst 21. A second inlet 34 is further opened in the gas-liquid separator 30, and the second inlet 34 is connected to a discharge port 41a of a blower 41. The blower 41 sucks external air from a suction port 41b and supplies the air to the gas-liquid separator 30 to control the amount of air to be flown in. As a result of the blower 41 supplying external air to the gas-liquid separator 30, the gas discharged from the first inlet 31 of the gas-liquid separator 30 is mixed with external air, and hydrogen and oxygen generated by decomposing water in the photocatalyst 21 are diluted. As a criterion for dilution, air is supplied in an amount such that the ratio of hydrogen to be generated becomes 4% or less as a gas phase compositional ratio after mixing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
