To obtain the subject new compound capable of being hydrolyzed and polymerized, capable of being formed into a stable composition rapidly polymerizable at a room temperature, and useful for preparation of a composite material, an adhesive, a dental filter, etc.
This hydrolyzable and polymerizable oxetanesilane is a compound of formula I [R0 is H or a (non)substituted 1-10C alkyl; R1 is a 1-18C alkylene, a 6-18C arylene, etc.; R2 is a 6-18C arylene, a 7-18C alkylarylene, etc.; R3 is a 1-18C alkyl, a 2-18C alkenyl, etc.; R4 is S-R5, CO-O-R5 (R5 is a 1-18C alkylene, a 6-18C arylenealkylene, etc.), etc.; X is a hydrolyzable group such as a halogen or hydroxy; (a), (b) and (x) are each 1-3; (c) is 1-6; with the proviso that (a)+(x) is 2-4, and (a) and/or (b) is 1] or a stereoisomer thereof, e.g. 7-trimethoxysilyl-4-thia-heptanoic acid-(3-ethyl-oxetan-3-yl)methyl ester. The compound is obtained by adding a compound of formula II to a compound of the formula OCN-R5-SiXxR33-x.
