Abstract:
To provide a hygroscopic agent having high moisture adsorption capacity and hardly adsorbing and desorbing smell ingredients, and to provide a method for production of the hygroscopic agent.
The hygroscopic agent comprises a hygroscopic inorganic porous material, and poly(sodium styrenesulfonate) or malic acid-crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol. Either one of poly(sodium styrenesulfonate) or malic acid-crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol is adhered to the surface of the hygroscopic inorganic porous material. The porous material is a silica gel having an average pore diameter of ≥5 nm. In the malic acid-crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol, a mass ratio of malic acid to polyvinyl alcohol is 1:10 to 1:4.
