Abstract:
PURPOSE:To properly judge a fault of a travel state detection sensor by providing a traveling means which makes the vehicle travel autonomously in a guide line nondetection section and a diagnostic means which checks the normality of a line detecting means. CONSTITUTION:Guide sensors 6 and 7 for forward movement and backward movement as the line detecting means detect a magnetic field produced by a magnetic tape 1 respectively and send their outputs to a controller 8, but output course-out signals to the controller 8 if the vehicle travels deviating from the magnetic tape 1. When the vehicle travels forward or backward, a mark sensor 9 outputs a detection signal to the controller 8 on detecting a mark plate 4 or 5. The controller 8 when inputting the signal from the sensor 9 judges that the vehicle 3 enters a diagnostic travel area 2 where the magnetic tape 1 is absent and makes a mode change from the travel mode to a diagnostic mode. In this diagnostic mode, the controller 8 allows the vehicle 3 to travel autonomously according to a previously stored program.
