Abstract:
PURPOSE:To form a high burning temp. catalyst body excellent in a low temp. ignition performance by depositing on a porous carrier layer a first promoter component such as a noble metal catalyst component, a second promoter component such as Mg and Si and a third promoter component such as a heavy metal. CONSTITUTION:Powders A are obtained by reaction of a porous carrier layer components with a first promoter component contg. at least one kind of rare earth elements, alkaline earth metals and their oxides. Particles B are obtained by attaching to the particles of a noble metal catalyst component a second promoter component contg. at least one kind of Mg, Si and their oxides and a third promoter component contg. one kind of heavy metals and their oxides. The powders A and B are mixed together to prepare a high burning temp. catalyst body. To accomplish this, there is the need to attach the second or third promoter component to the noble metal catalyst component in a larger amt. as compared with the first promoter component.
