PURPOSE: To provide a device to insert an electrode bunch into a square battery jar, with which the battery jar and electrode bunch can be located accurately and the electrode bunch be intruded easily.
CONSTITUTION: An electrode bunch inserting device for a square battery is composed of an index turn table 5, a battery jar grasping device 5a in the indexing position, clamps 6b1-6f1 installed around the rotary table 5 to grasp an electrode bunch 3, a guide member 9 installed in the middle between the electrode bunch 3 and battery jar 4 and having a jar guide hole 9a and electrode bunch guide hole 9b, a cam 10 furnished independently from the turn table 5, and a cam follower 11 which moves in pursuit after the cam. The guide member 9 sinks through the action of the cam 10 and follower 11, and the battery jar intrudes to the guide member 9. The electrode bunch is intruded by clamps little by little into the battery jar, and finally the whole electrode bunch is accommodated in the battery jar.
