Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition useful as coating compound, etc., having excellent shelf stability and pigment dispersibility by polymerizing an alpha,beta-unsaturated double bond-containing monomer in the presence of a specific dispersion stabilizer in a specific organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A copolymer of alpha-olefin (e.g. ethylene) and maleic anhydride is made to react with an alcohol (e.g. lauryl alcohol) to give a dispersion stabilizer having >=30, preferably 30-500 acid valued-acid, which is dissolved in an organic solvent (e.g. hexane) having <=8.3 solubility parameter and then an alpha,beta-unsaturated double bond-containing monomer (e.g. methyl acrylate) is polymerized to give the objective resin composition. A weight ratio of the dispersion stabilizer and the monomer is preferably (95/5)-(30/70) by weight.
