Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable the production of a polyamide under mild, nearly neutral conditions while it has been synthesized under strong by acidic conditions and thus produce a polyamide contg. chlorine in a low concn.
CONSTITUTION: A carbodiimide is used as the condensing agent in producing a polyamide from a dicarboxylic acid of the formula [[wherein X is a (2+ m)-valent carbocyclic, heterocyclic, or alkyl group; Y is a 1-3C satd. hydrocarbon group; m is 0, 1, or 2; and COY and COOH are in ortho-, peri-, β-, or γ-positions to each other] and a diamine.
