Abstract:
PURPOSE: To sufficiently shield the earth magnetic field of the earth, at least as in an well-known display tube, without exerting adverse effects on the mechanical stability of a shield, even in a large display tube. CONSTITUTION: An in-line type color display tube has a display screen 7 provided with the pattern of a phosphor beam, and the color display tube has an inside shield 5 having two long and two short walls. The respective long walls are provided with at least one slit 10A extending in the lengthwise direction of the display tube. While on the one hand, the shield is provided for increasing magnetoresistance locally with a portion, wherein a magnetic characteristic is lowered, or with a short crossing slit, at least between one slit end and an opposite edge.
