Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently elute away a surfactant and to lessen the necessary amt. of a solvent by sending the solvent penetrated from one surface to the other surface of a blank material sheet for a gas diffusion electrode to a distillation device and using again the solvent which is cleaned after the surfactant is removed. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophilic carbon black and/or water repellent carbon black, polytetrafluoroethylene and the surfactant (aq. soln.) are mixed. After this mixture is filtered, the filtrate is dried and pulverized and thereafter, the solvent (for example, solvent naphtha) is penetrated therein and the powder is rolled to form a sheet. This sheet is then heated to a prescribed temp. to evaporate the solvent, by which the blank material sheet 1 for the gas diffusion electrode is obtd. Next, the solvent (for example, toluene) 6 is passed from the one surface to the other surface of this sheet 1 to remove the surfactant and is sent to the distillation device 4 via a reflux path 7, by which the solvent is recovered. The recovered clean solvent is reused for removing the surfactant in the above- mentioned sheet 1.
