PURPOSE: To decide which to take first, the actions to prevent ice from pinching in a door or from dropping into a cup by a method wherein, in an ice piece supply device which operates an ice release lever by a cup, actuates an ice release command switch and opens a door for an ice release opening to release the ice from an ice storage chamber, a delay timer for delaying the closing of the door is made switchable between its long and short delay time after the cup is moved apart from the lever and the switch is turned off.
CONSTITUTION: An ice piece supply device which comprises an auger motor 14 so connected as to start or stop its operation responsively to the opening and closing of an ice release command switch 20; a delay timer 60 for delaying the termination of the operation of a door operating solenoid 61 after the ice release command switch 20 is turned off and a change-over switch 62 for causing a switching action to take place selectively between the long and short delay times of the delay timer 60.
