Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for setting a filter to obtain a suitable image in an image display device in which light incident to an optical modulation unit for forming an image is independently controlled in each region.SOLUTION: An image display device is provided, which includes: a light control data deriving unit that derives light control data for independently controlling each of a plurality of light-control elements on the basis of a characteristic amount of first image data; a filter coefficient deriving unit that derives a filter coefficient for filtering the first image data, on the basis of the light control data; an image data creating unit that subjects the first image data to a correction process including a filtration process to create second image data; an optical modulation unit that modulates incident light on the basis of the second image data to form an image; and an illumination unit that exits light controlled by the plurality of light control elements to the optical modulation unit and that is disposed in each illumination region where the light control element includes one or more optical modulation elements.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
