Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can supply contents to a specific observer out of many observers in a limited way.SOLUTION: An image display device has a liquid crystal plate through which incident light from a light source is passed as picture light, first polarizing means which is disposed between the light source and the liquid crystal plate and linearly polarizes light incident from the light source in a first polarization direction, a controller for changing, to a direction perpendicular to the first polarization direction, the polarization direction of light passing through an area in which an image is formed on the liquid crystal plate by outputting an image signal based on a display target image to the liquid crystal plate, and second polarizing means that is provided only between the liquid crystal plate and a specific observer and linearly polarizes to a second polarization direction as a specific polarization direction to the first polarization direction. The specific observer observes the picture light through the second polarization means, whereby the display target image is observable by only the specific observer.
