PURPOSE: To apply an image forming method which uses no corona discharger to a copying machine by forming a toner image where image light is not projected on a photosensitive body.
CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive body 1 travels as shown by an arrow. When an area A is exposed to an image by using an image exposing means 13, photocarriers are generated in a photoconductive layer 1c and carriers (+) having the opposite polarity from the applied voltage V6 of a recording electrode 4 move to the surface of a layer 1c to generate latent image carriers 14. Simultaneously, charges are implanted in a developer 5 from the electrode 4 and toner sticks uniformly on the surface of the photosensitive body 1. In an area B, said toner charges are inverted in polarity to (+) with a reverse voltage 12 applied to a sleeve 2b. Consequently, toner 13 which is charged to (+) repels the charges 14 electrostatically and is recovered in a developing device 2. Consequently, only toner at an unexposed part is left on the photosensitive body 1 to form the toner image 15.
