This image forming apparatus includes a color correction processing means (242) performing color correction processing to inputted image data; an image output control means (172) forming an image on a recording medium by controlling a recording head (140) based on the image data after color correction processing; a patch forming control means (172) forming colorimetric patches on the recording medium; and a storage means for storing output conditions in forming the image and the measured result of the colorimetric patches formed under the conditions. Formation of the colorimetric patches and the colorimetry are performed before and during the performance of a print job, and when the difference between the measured result and the measured result stored in the storage means exceeds a predetermined tolerance, correction data used for color correction processing of the color correction processing means 242 are changed.
