This image forming apparatus includes a color tone changing table, when a printing rate of a specific color continues output at a prescribed threshold or less, increasing, in outputting a color image, the printing rate of the color whose printing rate is the prescribed threshold or less, compared with that of a standard setting so as to retain a color tone changing mode for outputting the image based on the color tone changing table, or, in outputting a monochrome image, to retain a mode superposing and printing a prescribed amount of the color whose printing rate is the prescribed threshold or less, on a black image.
