Abstract:

To accurately predict the time when a free space of a waste toner box is filled with toner regardless of an installation space.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a developing device that forms a toner image made of toner by developing an electrostatic latent image by using a developer consisting of toner and carrier; a photoreceptor drum and an intermediate transfer belt that are an image carrier carrying the toner image formed by the developing device; a drum cleaning blade and a belt cleaning blade that recover, as a waste toner, a toner remaining on the image carrier after the toner image carried by the image carriers is transferred; a waste toner box that stores the waste toner; a waste toner amount prediction unit 55 that predicts the weight of waste toner stored in the waste toner box; and a volume prediction unit 57 that predicts the volume of waste toner stored in the waste toner box based on the atmospheric pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
