To prevent the rear side of a recording material from becoming dirty, to suppress staining of an edge occurring at the end of a printed recording material, and to suppress the wasteful consumption of toner.
After the finish of image forming (time T3), application of charging bias is stopped (time T4). With the timing that a part to which application of the charging bias by a charging roller is not performed arrives at an exposing part, an exposing device performs exposure of a maximum exposure width for exposing all of an effective exposing width (time T5). After that, with the timing that the part to which application of the charging bias is not performed arrives at a developing nip part, the developing bias of +200 V is applied to a development roller (time T6). The exposure of the maximum exposure width is performed to the part of one or more rounds of the photoreceptor drum. As for the maximum exposure width in this case, the exposure width in the main scanning direction on the photoreceptor drum by the exposing device is made to be wider than a developer application width on the photoreceptor by the development roller.
