To provide an image forming device which provides satisfactory developability though using toner having small particle size and suppresses the amount of generation of stuck carrier.
In the image forming apparatus, a two-component developer consisting of the toner having a volume mean diameter of 3 to 5 mμ and a carrier having a magnetization intensity of 30 to 80 emu/g is used to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on an image forming body, and an DC bias voltage and an AC electric field superposed thereon are applied between the image forming body and a developer carrier, and a magnetic attraction in a position 0.1 mm off the position closest to the image forming body in a normal direction on the surface of the developer carrier is ≥25 gf, and the intensity of the AC electric field in an non-image forming area is made lower than that in an image forming area.
